Constellations is healing through love
FAMILY
Constellations is one of the fastest growing psychotherapeutic
methods in the world today - a revolutionary, dynamic and evolving
therapy, it was developed in the 1970s by German psychotherapist
Bert Hellinger. Over the last 20 years many people have trained
with Hellinger and are now running their own training programmes
around the world.
Working
with the method of Family Constellations (FC) provides every person
with an opportunity to see the underlying or hidden dynamics in
their family system and to correct or heal the dynamic in a quick
and solution-focused process.
Family
Constellations acknowledges that we are not alone and everything
we do affects everyone around us, whether it has come from the
past, from parents, grandparents or even ancient ancestral links.
Through this method, deep hidden dynamics are revealed and through
a facilitated process, these dynamics are healed and order is
brought back to the system. We are bound to our family system
through conception, birth and the unconscious need to belong to
a group. On the deepest collective unconscious level, the members
of the family system are bound together in order to produce, preserve
and promote life. This bond is primarily a personal bond of love
and makes up one of the fundamental principles of Family Constellations.
Over many years of working with the constellation method, Hellinger
recognised some natural orders that ultimately formed the basis
for resolutions in the family system.
They are:
1.
Every member of the family has the right to belong equally and
is respected regardless of personal qualities or fate;
2. Whoever came first will take the first position and all the
others will follow in order;
3. Each person has to carry his or her own fate no matter how
terrible or difficult; and
4. There is a need for balance and compensation which includes
justice, the balance in giving and taking, and a sense of rights
and responsibilities.
The orders are not rules, but guides for any facilitator and client
on the journey to good relationships and healthy family systems.
Two of South Africa's internationally trained facilitators working
in a variety of fields are Helen and Claudio Celestino. They currently
run workshops, retreats and offer private individual sessions
both in South Africa and in Europe.
They are based in Cape Town but travel extensively to share, promote
and facilitate this magical way of working. With many aspects
of FC aligned with the ideals and philosophies behind Ubuntu,
Claudio and Helen believe that Family Constellations has not arrived
in South Africa, but has rather come home.
